Guérande sea salt, guided tours of the marsh…
Holidays in the white country!
Fancy a bit of nature? Come and find out about the enchanting landscapes of the Guérande peninsula. Our house is located in Saint Molf, about 10 km away from Guérande. If you are looking to unwind in a peaceful and historic setting, we are happy to welcome you in our thatched cottage, the traditional home of the “Paludier” (salt farmer).
The nearby salt marsh of the “Mès” is where we produce our Guérande sea salt, following a thousand-year-old technique now registered in the French national inventory of intangible cultural heritage. Tip: Discover the magic gem that is salt during our guided tour of the salt marsh “Le Pigneux”, in French or in German! Get in touch with the elements and see how the sun, wind and ocean produce delicious salt.
Unwinding on holiday: swimming in the ocean, walking on endless beaches, hiking along historic paths, exploring the harbours of La Turballe and Le Croisic, tasting oysters in Kercabellec… authenticity at its best!

Holidays in the white country, the south of Brittany
Our cottage “Le Paludier”
“Le Paludier” is a traditional Breton thatched cottage we renovated with care, keeping the original stone and clay walls, large fireplace and wooden beams. It stands in the small hamlet of “Pen d’hué” close to Saint Molf, an ideal location to spend peaceful holidays in the Guérande peninsula, surrounded by nature. The cottage is attached to our own house, where we (Ursula and Nicolas) live with our dog Nono and cat Marley.
The cottage can be rented as a whole accommodation for 4 people during summer, or as two separate bed and breakfast rooms.
We are currently renovating a small wooden house on our property into a second holiday home.
Buying our sea salt products
From our home or on various markets in the region
Grey salt, white salt, mixed with herbs and spices or bath salt: our salt is produced in a completely natural way. It isn’t refined nor washed and contains no additives. It is harvested manually and dries in the sun before being stored in the “salorge” (salt barn).
Ursula creates the recipes of salt mixtures, using coarse grey salt or finer white salt and organic herbs and spices. Following the recent evolution of regulations, our salt will be certified organic starting from the 2025 harvest.
During the summer you can find the produce of our family farm “La Salorge de Rostu” on the markets in Mesquer, Quimiac, La Turballe and all year round on the covered market in Saint Nazaire.

The secret of salt
Guided tour of the salt marsh with the salt workers!
Visit the “Mès” salt marshes and get to know the ancestral practices of salt workers. During the 2,5 hours visit, Nicolas or Ursula will tell you about the complex process that is salt production, from the ocean to the “Pigneux” salt marsh. From the bay, we will walk along the sea water creek, following the course of the water into the marsh where the salt will eventually crystallise in the oeillets, the production pools. This is where Nicolas will show you how the salt is harvested…
Bookings can be made from March until October at the “La Baule-Presqu’île de Guérande” tourist offices. We accommodate visits for individuals or groups, in French or in German. We also welcome school field trips.
